A Foundation of Leadership and Accountability
Strong leadership is fundamental to Copper Mountain’s safe, sustainable production of copper.
Our leadership instills a shared vision, mission, and core values that guide the implementation of our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives throughout the company.
Stewardship Creates a Strong ESG Culture
Copper Mountain’s Board of Directors works closely with Management to oversee the implementation of the company’s ESG framework. We believe that these principles not only ensure safety, sustainability, diversity, and community wellbeing, but also help our business grow. Through new innovations that increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to our community engagement programs, Copper Mountain’s ESG initiatives are central to the Board and Management’s agenda.
Copper Mountain’s Corporate Governance Committee has selected the Board’s directors based on who it considers as being the best mix of skills, experience, and diversity to strengthen the company’s operational goals. Since 2020, we added four new directors with complementary and value-added skills.
Our Management prioritizes Copper Mountain’s ESG principles in every facet of our operation. The team provides clear and consistent direction to implement the Board’s ESG vision and fulfill our sustainability goals.
In 2021, Copper Mountain appointed Don Strickland as our first Executive Vice President of Sustainability. This position, Don’s team, and the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee are fully focused on ensuring that Copper Mountain’s sustainability goals are reflected throughout the business, including health and safety, permitting, public and community relations, human resources, and delivering environmental excellence.
We view the creation of this position as an important step to convey how seriously Copper Mountain takes our ESG principles and as a commitment to the many additional steps that we’ll continue making to achieve our ESG goals.
We believe that the highest standards of corporate governance are a defining factor in the successful and sustainable operation of Copper Mountain. Our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics details our high expectations of conducting business with integrity and that these principles apply to every one of our employees, starting with the executives. Copper Mountain’s corporate policies reflect our ESG priorities and provide a framework for our decision-making that connects high-level ESG goals to the details of day-to-day operations.

Transparency and Accountability
Copper Mountain complies with the Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA).
The act aims to deter corruption in the global extractive sector — including the mining industry — by making government payments from natural resources companies transparent to the public by requiring businesses to publicly report certain payments. We report payments over $100,000 made to any level of Canadian or foreign government.
